工作多年后，大多数的人都有转换生活的想法，有人想继续进修，有人选择转换领域。其中管理阶层选择进修的话，大多选择MBA（工商管理硕士），那么申请MBA需要什么? 以NYU Stern商学院的ESSAY为例。

Essay 1: Professional Aspirations (750 word maximum, double-spaced, 12-point font)

Why pursue an MBA (or dual degree) at this point in your life?
What actions have you taken to determine that Stern is the best fit for your MBA experience?
What do you see yourself doing professionally upon graduation?

Essay 2: Personal Expression

Please describe yourself to your MBA classmates. You may use almost any method to convey your message (eg words, illustrations). Feel free to be creative. If you submit a non-written piece for this essay (ie, artwork or multimedia) or if you submit this essay via mail, please upload a brief description of your submission with your online application.

Essay 3: Additional Information (optional)

would like to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee. This may include current or past gaps in employment, further explanation of your undergraduate record or self-reported academic transcript(s), plans to retake the GMAT, GRE and/or TOEFL or any other relevant information.

申请留学ESSAY都不难，但要回答好这些问题，你必须花一些时间好好思考你的过去、现在与未来，思考好了之后再想想是否与该校课程有契合的地方。
以下提供几点技巧：

第一，你必须在相当清楚并确定职涯目标的状态下申请MBA。根据NYU Stern MBA招生单位其中一位职员的说法「MBA不是让你去挖掘自己的地方，而是给已经规划好自己学习计划的人来进修的」。考量到MBA所需的巨额学费及生活费(约$133,000)，比较适合给有一定经历且下定决心的申请者。
第二，申请前必须了解并掌握住Stern MBA Program跟其他学校有什么不一样、为何跟自己的需求吻合，并在文件中表现出这一点。想了解学校课程信息可以在学校官网上找到，而其余可通过报章杂志、社群媒体与招生活动等取得所需信息。
第三，第二题的个人表现看起来简单所以轻松随意回答的话，小心错失入学的机会了。题目不限制任何形式，让申请者发挥，但如果不确定是否内容可行的话，只要想想你是否可以毫无顾虑的把内容给上司看就可以了。万一发现似乎不行时，建议重新构思比较好。
第四，Additional information是让你针对自己申请部分较弱的部分做解释或补强的，假设你无法从现任主管拿到推荐信或职涯转换中有空白一段长时间，则建议在这边说明缘由。

最后，完成了每一份essay后务必检查英语质量是否维持在程度之上，文句用法、结构变化等等都会影响读者的感觉，建议找个母语编辑或是修改机构进行润色，提升英语水平。
